Why the HKS turbo kit specifically?

HKS has been building turbo kits for the 86/BRZ since the platform launched. We've fitted a lot of them. The kit works with the factory ECU through EcuTek, and it drives like a properly sorted car, not a hack job.

Do I need to upgrade my clutch?

Yes. The stock clutch won't hold 100+kW of extra torque. We include an Exedy clutch rated for the power level. Skip it and you'll be replacing a burnt clutch inside six months.

Will my engine handle this power?

The FA20 bottom end is strong. We've put this power level through plenty of them and they hold up fine when the tune and supporting mods are right. That's what this package is — everything the engine needs to run this power safely.

Why single fuel tune instead of flex?

Most people run 98 because it's easier to find. We tune for that and get the most out of it. If you want E85 as well, we can add flex fuel so the ECU switches between the two automatically.

How long does the build take?

Usually about a week and a half. We'll confirm timing when you book in. You'll get photos and updates as we go.

A turbo kit voids the factory powertrain warranty, full stop. If your car is still covered, that's worth knowing upfront. We warranty our own work — parts and labour — but the factory won't.
