"I came to RevZone with my 2017 STi after Subaru either couldn’t fix my issue—or couldn’t understand it. (Let’s just say “dealer-level expertise” didn’t exactly inspire confidence.) Common questions
- Cat-back or full system — which do I need?
- Cat-back swaps everything from the cat back: a bit more sound, slight weight saving, mostly cosmetic and aural. A full system (downpipe + mid + cat-back) actually changes power, especially on turbo cars where the downpipe is the choke point. If you want noticeable gains, the downpipe is where the work happens.
- Will it be too loud for the road?
- Victoria's stationary noise limit is 90 dB for most passenger cars. Reputable brands like HKS, Invidia, and Akrapovic build to pass. Track-only race systems don't, and we'll tell you when a product crosses that line.
- Will an exhaust change my tune?
- On a tuned car, yes — and you'll want to re-tune to take advantage. On a stock car running stock ECU maps, modern exhausts are usually fine without a tune unless you also change the downpipe. We'll tell you when re-tuning is worth it.
- Can I supply my own exhaust?
- Yes. We'll check it on arrival to make sure it fits and the welds are sound. Warranty on fitment applies only to parts we supply.
- What's the lead time?
- Usually 3-4 weeks to book. Bolt-on systems are normally same-day. Custom fab takes longer and we'll quote the time when you book.
