Is the VA WRX the same as the VA STI?

Same chassis, different engines. VA WRX runs the FA20DIT, 2.0L direct-injection turbo. VA STI runs the EJ257, port-injected, 2.5L, and the last EJ STI Subaru ever built. We tune both, but they're different jobs.

How much power can a VA WRX safely make?

FA20DIT responds well to a tune and basic bolt-ons. 220–250kW at the hubs is a sensible street target. Past that the factory turbo runs out and you're into a turbo upgrade and fuelling work.

Is the VA STI worth modding given its age?

Yes. It's the last EJ STI ever made and aftermarket support is still strong. We treat them as keepers: conservative targets, quality parts, no shortcuts on the supporting mods.

Will modifications void my factory warranty?

Most VAs are out of factory warranty by now, but mods can still affect dealer goodwill. A tune is the lowest-risk starting point. Happy to walk through your specific car.

I've got a 2022+ WRX. Is that VA?

No. 2022 onwards is the VB (FA24DIT). Different engine, different page.
